I'm ready to schedule. What do I need to do?
Contact us and we’ll get you set up with an estimate and get you on the calendar. We recommend giving us at least 2 weeks’ notice when scheduling. If you have a last-minute or rushed project, we’ll do our best to fit you in.
How long does the process take?
It depends on the service. A buff and recoat can be walkable in as little as 3 hours. A full refinish requires several hours of sanding before we create a brand-new wood surface ready for staining and finishing. We’ll provide a clear timeline before we begin.
Is there dust?
Buff and recoat is 100% dustless. For full refinishing, our sanding machines connect directly to high-powered vacuums with double HEPA filtration, minimizing airborne dust and contaminants. This dust-control process is included with our full refinish services at no extra charge.
Are there harsh fumes?
It depends on the finish you choose. Oil-based finishes are durable but take longer to dry and have stronger fumes. Water-based finishes are low-VOC, environmentally friendly, and dry quickly while maintaining a light, natural appearance. We’ll help you choose the right finish for your home, budget, and timeline.
Do you need to see the floor before you begin work?
Yes. We’ll visit your home to inspect the floor, take measurements, and explain the best options for your project. Before sanding, we handle floor prep, house prep, shoe removal, carpet removal, and any necessary floor repairs or patching.
Can I walk on the floor and use my house during the process?
A buff and recoat can be walkable in as little as 3 hours. For recoating, water-based finishes are typically ready for furniture after 24 hours and area rugs after 7 days. Oil-based finishes are generally walkable within 12–24 hours, ready for furniture after 48 hours, and ready for area rugs after 14 days. We’ll provide exact instructions for your project.
What do we do with all our furniture?
Our crew can help move heavy furniture as part of the project preparation. We’ll discuss exactly what needs to be moved and what to expect during your free estimate.
We'll be on vacation. Do you do work while we are not home?
Yes. Let us know when you’re scheduling, and we’ll coordinate a plan that works for your home and your timeline.
I only want to sand part of my house. Can you blend the refinished floor with other floors?
Yes. We can blend existing hardwood floors with new wood flooring for a seamless look. We install unfinished wood where needed and then sand, stain, repair, and finish the floors together so they blend naturally from room to room.
Is the finish durable? Will it hold up to pets and kids?
Yes, but every floor experiences normal wear from pets, kids, foot traffic, scratches, sunlight, and everyday use. We recommend recoating every 2–4 years, before wear reaches the wood itself, to help protect your floors and extend their life.
Do you refinish staircases?
Yes, we’d be happy to take a look. We’ll inspect your staircase and flooring and provide honest recommendations based on the condition and your project goals.
Can I choose the gloss of the finish?
Yes. You can choose from matte, satin, semi-gloss, or gloss finishes. We’ll provide samples so you can see the difference in person and choose the look that’s right for your home.
My floor squeaks. Can you fix it?
We’ll inspect the squeaky areas to determine what may be causing the problem and recommend the best solution. Give us a call to schedule a free in-home estimate.
There are gaps between the floorboards. Can you fix them?
We’ll inspect the gaps and determine the best approach based on the condition of your floor. We’ll provide an honest recommendation during your free in-home estimate.
We have damaged or termite-damaged boards. Can you replace them?
Yes. We can remove damaged flooring and replace it with new matching wood. Once the repair is complete, we can sand, stain, and finish the area so it blends naturally with the rest of your floor.
We have shoe molding or 1/4-inch round trim. Does it need to come off?
Shoe removal is part of our preparation before sanding. When we arrive, we’ll handle the necessary floor and house preparation, including shoe removal, carpet removal, and any needed floor repairs or patching.
